Place the sharpener on a solid flat surface, such as a kitchen counter, when in use. Use light to moderate pressure when sharpening.

1. Use SLOT 1 by first opening the scissors and hold the handles with a firm grip. While stabilizing the sharpener with your left hand, put the blades into SLOT 1 and around the Emery Roll. Using suitable pressure, PUSH the scissors into the opening. Repeat 3-5 times or until scissors are sufficiently sharpened.

2. Use SLOT 2 for blunt or dull knives. While stabilizing the sharpener with your left hand, place the heel of the knife into SLOT 2. Pull the knife from heel to point. ONLY pull the knife. DO NOT use a back and forward technique. Repeat 3-5 times or until sufficiently sharpened. Repeat with SLOTS 3 & 4.

3. Use SLOT 3 for fine tuning and/or removing burrs from the re-edging and rough honing process. While stabilizing the sharpener with your left hand, place the heel of the knife into SLOT 3. Pull the knife from heel to point. Repeat 3-5 times. Finish by repeating in SLOT 4.
